Service is our specialty.
Whether you are an individual land owner who wants to verify a boundary line before installing a fence, an investment firm developing a new resort or anything in between, an accurate and complete survey is the foundation of your project. When you trust your surveying and mapping needs to Blue Ridge Surveying & Mapping, Inc. you are assured of quality service and accurate results.

Our complete service approach ensures that projects remain cost effective as well. When investing in land it is important to have a plan that matches the potential profitability. A small tract with limited income potential can quickly accumulate interest costs that render it unprofitable if plans become too complicated or take too long to execute. We maintain crucial contacts throughout the process to ensure completion in a timely fashion.

Researching the public records and performing the field survey are just part of the picture. Our attention to detail and commitment to excellence produce plats for every type of survey that are guaranteed to meet all applicable state and local regulations.

RTK (Real Time Kinematic)
Real Time Kinematic (RTK) satellite navigation is a technique used in land survey based on the use of carrier phase measurements of the GPS, GLONASS and/or Galileo signals where a single reference station provides the real-time corrections of even to a centimetre level of accuracy. When referring to GPS in particular, the system is also commonly referred to as Carrier-Phase Enhancement, CPGPS.

GPS (Global Positioning System)
The Global Positioning System (GPS) is the only fully functional Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS). Utilizing a constellation of at least 24 Medium Earth Orbit satellites that transmit precise microwave signals, the system enables a GPS receiver to determine its location, speed, direction, and time. Other similar systems are the Russian GLONASS (incomplete as of 2007) and the upcoming European Galileo positioning system.

Plat

A plat consists of a map, drawn to scale, showing the divisions of a piece of land. U.S. General Land Office surveyors drew township plats to show the distance and bearing between survey corners, and sometimes included topographic or vegetation information. City, town or village plats show subdivisions into blocks with streets and alleys. Further refinement often splits blocks into individual lots, usually for the purpose of selling the described lots; this has become known as subdivision.

The word "plat" in medieval English (and ever since) refers to a piece (or "plot") of land.
